Terms of Service
Last updated: June 13, 2026
These terms govern your use of the ChessCoach extension and website. By using ChessCoach you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Acceptance
By installing or using ChessCoach, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18, or 13+ with the consent of a parent or guardian. You may not use ChessCoach where it would be unlawful.
3. Account & security
Your account is your email address; sign-in uses a one-time code, so there is no password. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure. Notify us of any unauthorised use.
4. Subscription, billing & refunds
ChessCoach offers a free tier, a monthly Pro subscription, and a one-time “Personal” licence. Payment processing is provided by Dodo Payments, who acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions; by purchasing you also agree to Dodo Payments’ terms. ChessCoach is the Seller of Record responsible for the product, fulfilment and support.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. EU/UK consumers have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital purchases where the service has not yet been fully used; other refunds are handled per Dodo Payments’ policy and on a good-faith basis — email us.
5. Acceptable use
- Do not use ChessCoach to cheat in rated games, tournaments or anywhere assistance is prohibited. ChessCoach is for study and review of your own games.
- Do not reverse-engineer, resell or share access, or abuse the service or its APIs.
- Do not use the service to break chess.com’s or Lichess’s terms.
6. Intellectual property
The ChessCoach software, design and content are ours. Your games and data remain yours; we grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the service. The bundled Stockfish engine and any open-source assets are used under their respective licences.
7. Disclaimer
ChessCoach is a training and analysis tool, provided “as is”. It does not guarantee rating gains or results, and AI-generated explanations may be incorrect or incomplete. Use your own judgement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (including, for EU consumers, liability for intent or gross negligence).
9. Termination
You may stop using ChessCoach and delete your data at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms. Data handling after termination follows the Privacy Policy.
10. EU users (DSA)
If you are in the EU, you may contact us at iefym@getchesscoach.com regarding any content or service complaint, and we will review it in good faith. Your statutory consumer rights under your local law are unaffected by these Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Argentina. EU/UK consumers retain the mandatory protections of their country of residence. Disputes we will first try to resolve by email at iefym@getchesscoach.com.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms; for material changes we will give notice by email or in the extension, and continued use after the effective date means acceptance.
